Reading Notes: Week 4, Part A (The Flood)

The story of Noah and the Ark has always been one of my favorite Bible stories ever since I was a little girl. The whole story of Noah is a story of complete and unshakable faith in God, and just proves what can happen in your life when you fully put your faith in Him. While the story does end in a happy ending for Noah and his family, this story is also a story about the wickedness and corruptness that plagued the world and the humans that God created. Noah and the Ark is a story about a fresh start for humanity, and it blows my mind at the complete power that God has that is so evident in every single aspect of this story.

With all of that being said, the story for part A I want to focus on is the story of the actual Flood that occurred in Genesis 5-6. God found favor in a man named Noah, and he commanded him to build an ark for a great flood that was going to come and cover the whole earth. As the Lord said, Noah assembled the ark for two of each kind of animal to be housed for the 40 days the earth would be covered in water. Noah warned the people of the flood, but nobody believed him, and so they all were basically doomed to die in the flood. The craziest thing about it all was Noah was 600 years old and built a massive ark in only seven days. After the seven days, God closed the doors of the ark and the rains fell down from the heavens for 40 days. The water remained on earth for 150 days and after then, Noah and his family were the only humans remaining, and the two of each kind of animal were the only ones left.

It blows my mind that the world basically restarted with Noah and his family and the two of each kind of animal that were on the ark. It also blows my mind that back then humans made it to the point that God was so disappointed with them that He wanted to basically restart human kind by wiping them out with a massive flood.
